Eindelijk mogen de muzikanten van onze K.H. De Volksvreugd Proven opnieuw repeteren! Tijdens de opeenvolgende golven van de epidemie die de hele samenleving verlamden wisselden periodes van wel of niet repeteren voortdurend af. Gelukkig kon in september nog een druk bijgewoond aperitiefconcert in open lucht gespeeld worden. In december moest het geplande concert met kerstmarkt afgelast worden omdat er wél opgetreden mocht worden, maar niet gerepeteerd… Zaterdag laatst beten de leden van het trommelkorps de spits af: de eerste repetitie had plaats met de beschikbare muzikanten en binnen de geldende maatregelen. Ze werden onmiddellijk nagevolgd door het Provens Jeugdorkest op zondagmorgen en vanaf deze week neemt ook de harmonie haar wekelijkse repetitie op woensdagavond terug op.
De repetities gaan in een rechte lijn naar het Jubileumconcert van zaterdag 9 april. De Volksvreugd is nl. 100 geworden in het voorbije jaar 2021! Reeds 100 jaar opeenvolgend brengt amateurmuziek jong en minder jong samen tot een hechte, bijna familiale groep. Reeds 100 jaar genieten Provenaars en mensen van buiten Proven van de muzikale prestaties van onze muzikanten in concerten en straatoptredens. De prachtige naam ‘De Volksvreugd’ behoudt zijn dubbele betekenis: vreugde van het musicerende volk en vreugde voor het luisterend volk. Het Jubileumconcert is een eerste stap in de voor 2021 geplande viering. Er volgen zeker nog andere activiteiten van deze kwieke honderdjarige. En zeg nu zelf: wat doet 1 jaartje vertraging op het bestaan van een hele eeuw? De muzikale knaldrang is alvast aanwezig bij De Volksvreugd!

The Greatest Show
Live muziek, dans én zang dat is wat The Greatest Show u brengt. Op een panoramisch podium verschijnen het harmonieorkest De Volksvreugd, verschillende dansgroepen van Pro Danza, zangtalent Tim Saey, het trommelkorps en het Provens Jeugdorkest. In verschillende combinaties brengen ze een wervelende show die allerlei genres samenbrengt.
Dirigent Lorenzo Tuytens legde zijn steeds groeiende groep muzikanten herkenbare muziek voor: hij koos o.a. voor ‘Circus Renz’, ‘76 Trombones’ en ‘Funk Attaque’. Bij stukken als ‘Sing, sing, sing’, ‘Human’ en ‘French Can Can’ nemen de sierlijk getrainde dansgroepen van Pro Danza mee het podium in. Deze dansformaties behoren tot de Vlaamse top en behaalden prijs na prijs in diverse wedstrijden. ‘Rood’ van Marco Borsato wordt op meesterlijke wijze gezongen door Tim Saey, bekend van diverse musicals waaronder ‘40-45’, ‘Mozart!’ en ‘Beauty and the Beast’. Hij wordt gesteund door een backing vocal koortje in verschillende andere nummers.
Ook het Provens Jeugdorkest betreedt het podium onder leiding van Marieke Rabaey. De jonge muzikanten trokken ook dit jaar op kamp om zich naast de wekelijkse repetities grondig op dit concert voor te bereiden.
Muzikaal-, dans- én zangtalent nemen u mee in een spetterende show waarin alle onderdelen even verzorgd zijn. De aangepaste licht- en geluidseffecten dompelen u volledig onder in een niet te vergeten spektakel. Na de podiumacts zorgt een liveband voor een gezellige afterparty!
Place to be is zaal OLVi, ingang Boeschepestraat te Poperinge. De deuren gaan open op zaterdag 13 april om 18u.30 en de eerste noten weerklinken om 19u. Kaarten in voorverkoop à 12 euro (kids 6 euro) zijn te koop bij alle leden van De Volksvreugd en via tickets@volksvreugd.be.
